Zones on checkout

Hi, just wondering what the zone on the checkout is all about?

In admin we have shipping zones for UK/Europe/USA, in the checkout there is a zones dropdown box, but there is nothing to drop down?

I assume this is linked to shiping price? would we need to have the shipping price for the zones set up first?

Right, I understand but don't think I'll need it because i can't find zones for counties only countries and it also asks for county in a seperate field

Any idea on how to change the ""Excluding Tax"" in the description to Including Tax? is this a simple text or based on algorithm?

North Americans would want to add the states in there. There is a free add-on for all the zones/states in the world.

""Excluding tax"" is a translation found in Admin -> Translations. If you more than that want to display prices including tax see Admin -> Settings -> Listing which toggles the text Including/Excluding tax. In LiteCart 1.1 this is no longer a permanent setting as the customer can toggle prices incl/excl tax in the select region screen.

Oh i have found it, it's in countries at the bottom, i may look into the free add on as it would look more professional.

With regards to the tax, the option appears to do nothing (V1.0.1.5)

So i went into translations and used the search in the top right and looked for ""excluding tax"" changed it to ""Including Tax"" did the job nicely thank you :)

The reason why prices including tax still shows the label ""Excluding tax"" is because there was no tax to calculate. This is just to indicate for the buyer that somewhere along the road, tax might be added (i.e. toll or whatever).

This may indicate that your tax settings are set wrong for the selected country (found in geo zone). Always input prices excluding tax in admin and use a correctly configured tax rate for a geo zone.

I think you are right, I've not yet found a % tax on admin panel, but all the items are under £10 anyway so the tax is nothing to worry about as the buyers won't have to pay any customs fees etc I'll worry about it if the site is making 50K

Getting things right in the beginning can save you trouble in the end. ;)

Yes always doing things right is the best way, just because i cheat it doesn't mean it's going to work, i just chose that way due to the value of goods, obviously i can always undo it :)

On a completely separate note (sorry to ask so many questions, i cant find much documentation on litecart and i used it mainly for it's ease of use and ability for people to impulse buy)

Is there any way to set up postage discount with Zone based shippping? the items i'll be selling weigh no more than 20-30G each, so if i can get buyers to purchase more they will be able to save, or with free post UK get a small discount(50P) on each extra product they buy, actually it does not need to be shipping related exactly, it can be something like -50P for every order over 1 :)
