Using existing email during guest checkout

I am running LiteCart v2.6.0. If I am logged out and check out items as a guest, when I am on the shopping cart page, there is a field that allows me to enter my email address (in Customer Details). If I enter the email address for an already existing account, the checkout page automatically uses that account and says "We found an existing customer account that will be used for this order", without me having to enter the account's password. This allows an order to placed under anyone's existing account, without needing their password.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening? For example, if an existing email is used while in guest checkout, perhaps a popup login dialog could allow the customer to log in with password.
