Sale of digital "downloadable" products

As you ought to know, I totally love litecart. 

Surely, there must be a way to set this up where it would support downloadable products.

it's the one checkbox on a feature comparison between other excruciating php cart products in the marketplace that is missing. 

A discussion of how to implement this, even if it turns out to be an addon, would be wonderful. 

There would be a need for some additional database fields, and perhaps an extra tab on product management pages.

Some extra settings... where the secure downloads are stored... Maybe some sort of special login page where users can see their downloaded orders. 

And the order would perhaps expire after some time. 

Hopefully the community will find this interesting and we could define and design this. 

End the evil CPU and memory abuse of Magento once and for all with this stake in it's vampire heart.

I'm looking forward to it. I come to see every day if someone has developed it.

I'm in the middle of a job search, so my time is minimal, but I will do what I can to contribute. I know TiM offers excellent support and insight into this product, but don't expect him to develop this unless he feels it's vital. But then again, the product is stable, and TiM might get bored and want a new challenge. 

There are crummy solutions to the problem in the wild, and of course there's the horribly expensive / pain in the butt Magento, I just want to be running only litecart.

Be careful, when I say that I would like to have this solution there, it is to buy it. I am not a developer and I am not able to understand the difficulty of "making" this plugin.

I say until I wait. And if Mr. rob.lindman is ready to do it, then give me a sign, I may be the first buyer.
