Litecart not working after restoring backup.

Hi Tim,

I updated litecart via softaculous (from 2.1.1), this completely changed my site layout (probably my fault for altering things in the wrong places) so I restored my home directory via a backup in cpanel and now the shop won't display in browser (white screen no error) and I can't login to the admin panel (same). When I restored the backup I got the following error;

Error: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

My home directory appears to be unaltered as is the database, I am no expert in json queries or php, any ideas what might be wrong or have I killed my litecart shop?

Ok, decided to try updating again via softaculous, was getting parse errors on includes/config.inc.php, fixed those and eventually got to 'installing database 2.2.0' on the litecart installer although there was a warning about php version 5.6.4 end of life.

I am still getting nothing in browsers when I visit the litecart url. I have a splash page before litecart which loads fine but a blank when trying to access litecart. I get internal server error when trying to access the admin login screen. Could there be a compatibility issue after the update? I've been using this litecart installation for over 2 years without a problem, do I have to start again? If so, is there any way of using the existing database and template in a fresh install?

Internal Server Error is most likely caused by PHP script error. See logs/errors.log for details.

Hi Tim, thanks for your advice, I have followed the error logs but it hasn't led to a fix. I have gone down the 'recover a broken platform' route and I now have a question;

I am comparing the database structures and the fresh database (2.2.4) has a set of 'attribute_groups' tables, the old database (2.1.1) doesn't. The old database has a set of 'options_groups' tables the fresh database structure doesn't.

If the 2 structures are so different how was an upgrade ever going to work? Which of these tables layouts is compatible with my original site or should I leave them all in which case will litecart work?

You can see in the 2.2.0 and 2.2.3 upgrade patches that data is migrated and inserted to the attribute tables from those later removed tables.
