Error code on Blog page and skewed CSS

Installed Simple Blog by @insanebear.
Instructions aren't super clear, but was able to navigate through it.

After all steps I'm getting errors on 'mydomain.xyz/blog' page

Deprecated: general_path_friendly() has been deprecated. Instead use functions::format_path_friendly() in ~/includes/functions/func_general.inc.php (Line 9)

This might be due to the fact that addon hasn't been updated for quite a while and @tim might have made some changes to the code.

Would appreciate the advice. See screenshot attached as well. Left bar is skewed big time.

Honestly that would be great. 'Readme' also needs some love and attention. Couple steps are missing about 'blog.app.zip'
